Beauty Answer: As much as we would like to say all scrubs are harmless and do exactly what they advertise the truth is we cannot. Like many products its not the idea behind the product that’s bad, it’s what is in it. Do you know what is in your favorite facial scrub?

We always recommend taking a closer look at the ingredients contained in your beauty products. These days it is not always wise to simply grab anything off the beauty aisle before taking a deeper look into things. Speaking of deep the whole reason why women use facial scrubs is to deep cleanse their skin. In order for this deeper cleansing to take place a coarse texture is needed to exfoliate the skin which involves the removal of dead skin cells.

Nevertheless, many mainstream products contain jagged particles made from walnut or apricot seeds. At first, that could sound quite harmless, safe and all natural. However, those particles do not cleanse skin but rather cause tiny incisions in your skin. The little bitty cuts may not be noticeable, but they are big enough to allow bacteria to seep in and wreck havoc.

What could be the result from these tiny skin tears? Such cuts could lead to inflammation, redness and yikes… more blemishes! Therefore, it is important to only use products that contain ingredients that are safe and nourish skin.

Wow, it seems like several noted black musicians are bringing some serious heat to the fashion industry! Ciara gets a nod from Topshop, Rihanna begins to front Stance and now Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson had an announcement of her very own. JHud is now the face of New York & Company’s SOHO Jeans.

Hudson looked beyond cute for the launch party celebrating her momentous new job position . We loved the retro hair touch that she added to her denim on denim ensemble which is a very hot trend right now. Jennifer incorporated a headscarf aka bandana to complete her chic head-to-toe look. Bandana’s are a great hair accessory to hold hair in place or simply change up a classic. We love the short cut that Hudson is rocking yet the addition of the scarf helped her hairstyle take on a new life. This one little and simple accessory cause her to morph from edgy to sassy girly-girl.

The collection that Jennifer Hudson will be the face of is a quite affordable with all pieces being under $70. If you wish that you had lived during the disco era or are hoping that there really is a Doc out there creating a DeLorean time machine so that you can return to that decade then you’re going to love these jeans. The entire collection was inspired and designed with the 70’s solely in mind. Groovy baby!

Steaming is actually a beauty method used by cosmetologist in order to remove acne like pimples or blackheads. How is steaming helpful in removing these forms of acne? The steam encourages surrounding skin to become more soft and supple. This thus causes any bacteria, hardened oils or dirt to be easily removed from your skin.

Steaming is a process that is highly recommended to be handled by a trained professional. Moreover, in some cases cosmetologists couple steaming with the needle method. A cosmetologist will use a sterilized needle to gently apply pressure to whiteheads. This gentle pricking will cause pus to ease on out. Therefore, steaming and whitehead removal via needle are best handled by trained individuals and are deemed the safest options for ridding skin of acne.

Late Night Beauty Call: Lauren Nicely

We just happened to be strolling the Explore page of the gram when we came across tonight’s beauty. Immediately we were taken back by several of her stunning makeup looks. Her style and vibe had a very natural feel to it yet she combined bold elements that only enhanced her radiant looks. So then, for these reasons we had to give home girl a call!

Everyone meet Lauren Nicely, a successful makeup artist who even holds her own classes! We’ ll just get right down to exactly what we liked… everything. From the brows that were simply perfection to her bold eye makeup we wanted every look that she displayed. It was difficult but we narrowed it down to two looks in particular.

1. Bronzed Beauty– If we were a princess needing to be awakened by love’s true kiss we would want Prince Charming to catch us looking like this. The golden orange tones of the eye makeup makes her skin look so lush!

2. Purple Passion– Yasss honey! Purple is so royal and official, the vibrant hue is just so gorgeous to look at. The color pops ensuring that the eyes will be the stars of the night.

There are plenty of ways to allow your inner fashion nerd to escape and be free. Try incorporating a pair of stylish suspenders with a pleated skirt and button down shirt. Or, if you are a shoe fanatic ( it’s okay the first step is admittance LOL) pair your heels with socks and get to strutting your stuff. Moreover, you could also support your favorite comic character by rocking a tee with their image plastered all over it. Extra points if you plan on wearing top related to the Avengers or Wonder Woman. Nevertheless, there is one major accessory that most fashionista’s keep in their back pocket when they are ready be the chic geek.

To pull off this trendy look all a girl really needs is a fashionable pair of glasses. Take being called four eyes as a compliment, because girl you look great! Don’t worry about getting a pair with a prescription unless you need a little help in the eyesight department. A regular pair of bifocals will also not break the bank or set your wallet on fire making it a cheaper trend to indulge in freely.

Celebrities wear the geek chic trend more often than you think and not just to star-studded galas either! We have spotted nerd couture being worn by some of our favorite celebrity gals. Here are just a few:

See, whether you are going for a sophisticated and conservative or relaxed and edgy, a little nerdy flair can help to complete your look. Notice though for the most part the makeup on all the ladies was kept rather simple. Rihanna has the fashion world wrapped around her glamorous finger and is now turning her attention back to the beauty realm. Rihanna has just announced that she soon will be releasing a brand new fragrance to the masses. The soon to be sought after fragrance has been aptly entitled, RiRi, a nickname often used by her adoring legions of fans.

Rihanna revealed via social media how thrilled she is about her upcoming beauty venture. Rihanna took to Instagram stating,

“Excited to announce my newest fragrance “RiRi”… Coming soon! #ThisIsRiRi”

In just hours with almost half a million likes and over 13,000 comments fans expressed their feelings regarding Rihanna’s latest reveal. Most seemed just as elated as our RiRi about the news. Here are just a few thoughts fans had to say about the ad for the RiRi fragrance.
