Rihanna Gone Bantu Gothic: 2014 iHeartRadio Music Awards

Rihanna Gone Bantu Gothic: 2014 iHeartRadio Music Awards.  The Music Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Rihanna wore  a Givenchy Couture by Riccardo Tisci dress and leather jacket, Manolo Blahnik shoes,  Nikos Koulis bracelets, Neil Lane necklaces and earrings. Rihanna went wild by wearing rings by, Loree Rodkin, Lynn Ban, and Nikos Koulis.

Even though she was wearing designer piece you had to take notice of her hair. Rihanna killed while rocking bantu knots! This is when you twist hair until it wraps around itself in a knot. You may remember this look from JADA PINKETT SMITH  in “ THE MATIRX REVOLUTIONS”.

The movie premiere for the upcoming biopic, Belle was held in NYC at The Paris Theater. The lead actress in the film, Gugu Mbatha-Raw looked ravishing in a chartreuse green gown by Lavin. We also loved Gugu’s accessories which included lush gold jewelry as well as caged sandals and a dazzling clutch. Be sure to catch this lovely starlet on the silver screen as this Fox Searchlight Pictures film opens to select theaters this Friday.

Plus Size Models Fighting For Size Diversity in Fashion A New Documentary Explores

Even though we are  in 2014 plus size models still have a hard time in the fashion industry because they are being told they don’t fit the norm. However in the United States in 2013 72 percent of women wear sizes 12 and above even though the industry wants you to believe that is unacceptable.

A Perfect 14, directed and produced by Giovanna Morales and produced and directed and edited by James Earl O’Brien seeks to inform consumers and change perceptions by following three plus size models through their careers.

“This film explores the controversial term plus-size and the divisive influence it has on society by interviewing designers, photographers, standard models, agencies, magazine editors, industry leaders and plus-size pioneers in the meccas of the fashion world. It combines the stories of the models with an exploration of the largely ignored topic of weightism, one of the last acceptable types of discrimination. Interviewing experts in the field of fat studies and body image, the film also exposes the collective unconsciousness of size-based segregation. It also asks the question of the media’s responsibility in its single focus portrayal of thin role models and how it takes a heavy toll on the self confidence and body image of women.

A Perfect 14 will be released in 2014. Follow their facebook to stay up to date.
