There is not one fashion lover alive who does not enjoy an eye-dropping fashion show. The more theatrics the better! Nonetheless, after last night it is going to be hard for anyone to top Harper’s Bazaar outrageous visual display. In celebration of their 150 year reign the magazine presented the Harper’s Bazaar Empire State Building Fashion Show in the heart of NYC. Major!

Party and fashion, could there be anything better? All of fashion’s elite came out to enjoy the spectacular event. We spotted Iman, Daniela Braga and Demi Moore to name a few.

Nevertheless, yes the party is so posh and NY, but the real highlight is the one-of-a-kind show! Harper’s Bazaar let us in on a few details. The mag revealed,

“In honor of our 150th anniversary, we’re projecting the chicest fashion show on the Empire State Building. A retrospective of some of our magazine’s most memorable images. From 8:30 to midnight on the north side of the Empire building above 34th street.

Last night BAZAAR images over our 150 year history came to life… from Jean Shrimpton to Beyonce. We celebrated our 150th anniversary in style with our May 2017 cover girl. [She] flipped the switch for our Empire State Building retrospective and some of our favorite tastemakers.”

Fashion for Relief is a charitable organization that works to raise funds in order to help various humanitarian as well as environmental causes. What is the latest project or undertaking? Naomi Campbell is collaborating with fashion brand, Diesel, to bring about the Child at Heart collection. Fashions that will help children in need. Fabulous!

It is always amazing and such a pleasure to see an array of people come together for a great cause. Models for the Child at Heart charity fashions and photography all occurred without the exchanging of even one penny. Diesel talked briefly about this marvelous collab. Diesel states,

“Designed by children, for the benefit of children. Look good. Be good. Do better. Join us to support Naomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief which works in emergency situations in conjunction with other charities on the ground. This special project provides much needed aid and support for refugee children.

[Naomi Campbell] cares and so do we. Diesel collaborates with icon and activist Naomi Campbell for a collection that cares. Diesel and Fashion for Relief thanks this brave and kind crew wholeheartedly for donating their time to shoot this campaign without fee. Driven by their passion to support this important cause.”

Skai is giving us hair on hair on hair! We love the cool spin that she put on the classic high ponytail hairstyle. By adding texture to the tail instead of leaving it bone straight the look gains even more drama. This is important because at times the idea of wearing a ponytail can seem like a bore. However, as can clearly be seen by Skai’s style, it is very simple to infuse this look with flair.

Getting volume is very easy these days. Use textured extensions or a clip-on ponytail to recreate this hairstyle. Or if you already have the length try skipping a full on flat iron session. Straighten the front and back so that hair will look nice and smooth pulled back. Then braid up the hair in the tail in order to create a beautiful wavy texture once released. BOOM… new awesome hairstyle unlocked.

Fashion Notes: When your hair is on point you need a fit that is just as bomb. Jackson hit the nail on a head by turning a men’s shirt into a dress! So trendy and ingenius if we may say so. Her “shirt dress” is a design by Guess, fitting since the brand had a major role in the party she attended.

What can say, Kerry and her career is simply red hot!

Washington is very spring and glamorous for her May cover and editorial. She is adorned in lace, prints, pleats as well as floral fashions. She looks every bit of a Hollywood star and then some.

Nevertheless, as fun as it is to review the couture in mags of course we all want to know what is going to be discussed inside. Kerry mentions,

Kerry is always fun to chat with and has a A1 sense of humor. However, for the May issue Washington is also championing women. Regarding this Glamour says, “Scandal star Kerry Washington is happier at 40 than she’s ever been before. And now she has a message for every woman.” Therefore, what is the message?

Kerry says, “My deepest desire is to create a world where there’s room for all of us. Where no matter who you are, you get to wake up in the morning and know that you are worthwhile and deserving.”

This act and message in the name of sisterhood didn’t occur by accident. Actually, Kerry Washington put the wheels in motion herself. Paola Mendoza explains,

“About a month ago I got an email from the EIC (Editor-in-Chief) of Glamour asking me if I wanted to interview Kerry Washington for the cover of the magazine. I of course said yes! I soon found out Kerry had actually requested that I write the story.

This is what sisterhood looks like. Sisterhood is loving your girls, sisterhood is protecting those around you, sisterhood is using your platform to benefit others. Thank you Kerry for being my sister!”

“When you came dressed to be team turtle at the Kendrick Lamar show.” Fenty’s words, not ours. However, we thought she looked a wee bit better than that. For the Kendrick Lamar concert Work singer wore a denim Matthew Adams Dolan Fall 2017 garment. This isn’t the first rodeo for Rih and Matthew Adams Dolan. For iD Magazine Rihanna rocked another oversize denim look from the Pre-Spring 2015 collection (See Below).

Nevertheless, this couture marriage between the two is a perfect match. Fenty finished her fit with vintage Maison Margiela boots and of course, more sunnies. Her chic sunglasses are from the Adam Selman x Le Specs collaboration. Fire.

Beauty Notes: Monday blues anyone? For the Monday night Kendrick concert Rih went bold with blue on blue. Pulling a tone from your ensemble is a simple way to achieve cohesion with your overall look.

The mag states they are giving a fresh approach to fashion by embracing a world of beauty. We’re in!

Okay dolls let’s get into the who, what and why. Harper’s Bazaar Arabia proudly took to social in order to reveal their cover stars. The magazine shared, “Harper’s Bazaar Arabia celebrates the beauty of diversity with Gucci for our April cover shoot. Starring Jourdana Elizabeth, Lameka Fox, Grace Mahary, Ajak Deng and Nykor Paul. The results are simply stunning.”

Amen to that. Plus, the message behind the cover and editorial shoot is nothing but inspirational. Katie Trotter, who served as the Creative Director for the April issue says, “What a pleasure to work with the most beautiful girls in the industry that smile from the inside out. Shun Melson presented her SOLD OUT First Annual Spring Fashion Show at Level V. It was an amazing show and the models were absolutely stunning. The show featured models from sizes 2-24 and also showcased some of Shun’s signature items.

We love that Shun Melson is addressing women of all shapes and sizes. For years, the industry has been quite slanted towards one “type” and one type of body only. Therefore, the spring FaShun collection is a nice refreshing departure and is a major step forward.

Moreover, Melson’s fashion show was packed! From wall to wall every spot was occupied. So then, who made up the A-list guest? Celebrities including:

Move over Zorro we have a new masked hero. Rihanna hit the 2017 Coachella scene in a fit straight from the Gucci Fall 2017 Menswear runway show. It had everything. Glitz, glamour and TONS of edginess. You know typical Rihanna appeal.

The singer sported Gucci’s infamous “Common Sense is Not That Common” tank top, distressed denim cut-off shorts as well as a sequined body suit. That last item is what got us. To wear a glittery body suit that also covers the face you have to have the presence and personality to pull it off. Rihanna did so without a hitch.

Furthermore, last year at Coachella Rihanna made us swoon over her Gucci sunglasses. You may remember the photos that emerged with her and actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
