Coachella is a musical festival that highlights not only amazing up and coming artists, but today’s most popular established chart toppers as well. Therefore, it was fitting that flamboyant songstress, Solange, take to the stage and was even joined by her mega pop star sister, Beyonce. While everyone focused in on the music, we zoomed in on their luscious locks of hair.
Big hair don’t care was in full in effect as the sisters shook and gyrated while swinging their curly locks to Solange’s song, Losing You. Beyonce swung her trademark blonde hair and Solange’s tresses was a la Diana Ross. If you plan on stealing a page from these ladies’ style book, be sure to keep your strands well moisturized. Curly hair tends to be drier and needs hydration to stay looking fresh and beautiful. Beyonce and Solange performed together at Coachella at the Empire Polo Club on April 12 in Indio, California.

As we were looking at the campaign we couldn’t help but be reminded of countless sleepovers, crush talk and the swapping of clothes with our close gal pals for a fun night out. The H&M fashions are great, styling is fresh and overall feel of the ad comes off as let’s just enjoy being young and have a good time. We dig the message and will be purchasing H&M couture to strut in as we make new memories with our Best Friends Forever.
Hair Quickie: More and more women are ditching chemicals and relaxers for a more natural approach to hair care. If you are transitioning to go natural it is very important to have the right products at your disposal. One issue many women in transit come across is tangled hair. A great way to help keep tresses under control is to shampoo and condition your locks with products that are specifically formulated for detangling. Using a tangling shampoo and conditioner will help keep breakage to a minimum making your transition less stressful.
Beauty Quickie: Eggs are not only beneficial to keep you healthy on the inside, they also do wonders on your outside. Let’s breakdown the egg for a moment to really understand the benefits that can be derived from eggs. Eggs when directly applied to the skin can moisturize as well as tighten. More specifically:
1. Egg Yolks: Moisturize
2. Egg Whites: Tighten
Experience these benefits by taking one egg and separating the egg yolk from the egg white. Next, stir the egg whites and egg yolks up in separate containers and then apply the egg yolk mixture to your face allowing it to dry for 10 minutes or until it becomes stiff. Rinse off the egg yolk with warm (not hot) water and pat your face dry. Repeat these steps with the egg whites and in no time you will notice a fresher complexion and tighter pores.
2014 has definitely been the year of Lupita Nyong’o and we hope her reign as a style queen never comes to an end. Lupita has once again changed up her look and we love it! Nyong’o was attending a Marie Claire event in West Hollywood, California and hit the red carpet in a fashionable dress by Giambattista Valli as well as a noticeably different hairstyle. The lovely Oscar winner wore her locks up, looking full and fabulous. An excellent look for all our naturalistas out there.
If you enjoy fashions with a little flirty flair we would like to high five you! We find retro and vintage inspired clothing at times have more of an alluring factor. In times past, women’s fashions just seemed to have more appeal, more glamour. This ring of truth was seen right down to their swimwear, revealing just enough skin to be sassy.
Abercrombie & Finch has taken a page from the sexy vintage book with their new swimwear for 2014. This year they are encouraging us ladies to go retro with high rise swim sets. We love the sets, but check them out for yourself and be sure to drop us a line to tell us what you think.
Beauty Tip: Natural ingredients make the best skin cleansers due to being free of harsh or harmful additives. Milk, which is known for its soothing benefits, in combination with honey will not only deeply cleanse but help skin retain moisture. Go nature!
