Every season we think, okay we have definitely seen it all. Trends come and go or get revamped. Yet, in essence there is nothing new under the sun. Well, boy were we wrong! We witnessed true innovation at its finest and feel honored to have gazed upon it in all of its exquisite glory. Adam Selman always seems to create looks that have us talking about them over and over again. One of our personal favorites is the glitzy number he designed for Rihanna when she received the CFDA Fashion Icon Award. It fit every curve like a glove and oozed old Hollywood glamour. Plus, it sparkled like a teenage dream. In the words of Rihanna herself it did, “shine bright like a diamond!”

The NYFW moment by Adam Selman may not have been glittery but it easily turns heads. Every show everyone always eagerly waits for the opening piece as well as the finale ensemble. This is because usually designers love to begin and end their shows with a bang.

For his finale piece Adam Selman sent what we can best describe as a “Human Bouquet” down the catwalk. Just a total gasp moment! Designers show their love of florals in the form of prints but to see an actual piece made of a gorgeous arrangement is pure genius. Adam, man…you have outdone yourself!

The Nicolas K Fall/Winter 2017 Runway Show beautifully fused together 90’s hip hop trends with modern style. Nevertheless, the inspiration behind the amazing collection has an even deeper meaning. Fashion’s rising duo is using their couture brand to start a revolution. One that they desire will give hope as well as power to the people.

Nicholas and Christopher Kunz are the genius masterminds behind the Nicholas K label. The brother and sister couture designers have been deeply affected by the politics of America. From the recent ban and administration changes Nicholas and Christopher began to feel as though things in America were going backwards.

Enter their Nicolas K Fall/Winter 2017 collection. First of all, it was important to the designers to show inclusion and diversity. For their NYFW show they made sure to cast models of all shades and tones. Next, they let their clothes do the rest of the talking.

The garments are a throw back to the golden era of hip hop, the 90s. Oversized coats, slouchy pants and a bold color palette (black, gold, red) brought the decade before the 2000’s back to the catwalk.

Also, the strong accessories gave the collection a very activist and rebel vibe. Models hit the catwalk in berets, humongous septum rings as well as earrings. The resulting look immediately made us think black panther and underground grunge.

As you can see Nicolas K definitely left their mark on NYFW and we can’t wait to future designs from the growing brand. Nevertheless, there’s more to see so keep your fashionable eyes on 1966 as we bring you the hottest moments of fashion week!

Where is baby Junie?! As much as we love seeing Teyana and her beautiful daughter out and about; it’s still nice to spot TT enjoying a night out on the town solo. Moreover, what better place to be than taking in the voguish designs of New York Fashion Week?

Day one of NY’s fashion week really kicked things off with a major bang. All the shows from morning till night were full of trendy surprises. Nonetheless, La Perla immediately got the crowd in an uproar right at the start. Hint: Involves a very famous supermodel and more on that later!

La Perla is well known for their luxe, glamorous lingerie. Therefore, it makes perfect sense that their attendees would possess the same vibes. Teyana Taylor awesomely fits the bill of sassy and chic.

Taylor’s OOTD for the show fell in line perfectly with La Perla’s Fall/Winter 2017 theme incorporating the beauty of florals. Teyana brought the fashion heat in a garment from the La Perla Spring 2017 collection.

She finished her look with a fur to stay warm in the snowy New York weather. Also, can we give it up one time for her vivacious and boisterous hair color! We love how the bold tint compliments her outfit and blends due to matching one of the shades found in the print of her gown. Moreover, the deep middle part and slanted cut add some sleek, modern edginess. Bravo!

The creation of amfAR came about to the unfortunate passing Hollywood actor, Rock Hudson. Hudson was the first well-known public figure to die of AIDS-related illness. Right before his death Rock donated $250,000 to help others in the future who might face a similiar health issue. His longtime friend Elizabeth Taylor used his donation in order to help establish amfAR.

Ugh… we just love edgy couture! The Digby Jackson Chemical Plant Overalls ooze effortless cool vibes. Miss India Westbrooks took one of her recent photo shoots to new levels by adorning herself with head-to-toe Digby Jackson fashions.

The petite beauty wore the stylish Chemical Plant Overalls/Dungarees with yeti shoes. Moreover, she mixed retro with revision by opting to forgo a shirt. We love it and want more of it. The Are You Am I Tiiu Top has now graced the fabulous physique of a model as well as an actress. So then, now you know it is proper time to go cop it! Every year one color reigns supreme over all others. Drum roll please… the Pantone 2017 Color of the Year Is Greenery! Yes, the tint that is blanketed throughout nature is a hue that you will see a lot of in the coming seasons. Why was this color chosen for 2017 and what do designers have to say?

Okay, so why this color? Regarding the selection Pantone said, “Greenery is the Pantone color of the year 2017 selection. [Its] a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose amid a complex social and political landscape.”

Very refreshing. Nevertheless, what about the fashion world? Are they down with the greenery hue? Yes they are to the one thousandth power! Gucci helped usher in the greenery tint during their spring/summer collection. The tint was fresh and gave off a very modern and contemporary feel.

Moreover, designer Christian Siriano enjoys the use of the vibrant shade. Explaining why he adores it he says, “My love of any green color comes from the idea of bringing the outdoors inside.” Therefore, if you have ever wanted to marry your love of nature with couture here is your chance.

Furthermore, brands are already rolling out the green hue products. Nail polish giant OPI just released to green polish colors. Speaking on one of polishs OPI stated, “Be bright and powerful with Pantone’s shade of the year. Stock up on our Infinite Shine shade “To the Finish Lime” and stay on trend this season!”
