Who of us wouldn’t to go to work in the most comfortable clothes we could find? Rihanna is hard at work creating hot new music and must of had that thought in mind. RiRi hit the studio super early in the morning in a cute pajama set.

Fashion stylists from around the world must of slightly cringed knowing they tell women to never leave the house to errands or anything in PJs. However, this is Rihanna people, she doesn’t have to stick to a certain set of fashion rules. Nevertheless, being that it was 3 in the morning can you really blame the doll? At least she looked hot doing it!

Rihanna is working on R8 the next studio album in line to be released. By the looks of her dedication to her craft the album shall be one we will be blasting in our cars over and over again. One last note on her recent studio ensemble, we love those furry heels!

Braids can look beautiful but to keep them looking pristine there is some maintenance needed. We will get into more of that in our next black hairstyles post. However, one issue some ladies come across when wearing braids is the dreaded itch.

We have all seen it or done it… the palm of the hand slowly creeps it way towards the head and the patting begins. Or if that doesn’t do it then as a last resort scratching becomes the next best option. Nevertheless, are there any black hairstyle tips that can be kept in mind in order to resolve this hair matter?

1. Dryness: Itching can occur when the scalp is very dry. In this case adding moisture could help to relieve any discomfort. Think braid oils as well as sprays and you will be on the right track.

Our favorite model/singer of all time has a new fashion venture that is just simply cool. How many celebrities out there are choosing to endorse socks? Better yet, how many could lend one’s name to a sock brand and make them look like the must-have accessory of the season? We have to say it, but most likely only Rihanna!

Just days ago RiRi released an attention grabbing music video for her music chart hit BBHMM that had everyone talking. Now the trendy, sassy star is the newest face aka Punk and Poet for Stance socks and the brand couldn’t be happier to have her on board. The Vice President of the women’s division of Stance, Candy Harris spilled the beans on why Rihanna was their obvious choice. She said,

“She’s one of the few women in fashion whose style can go from street to couture in the blink of an eye.”

Yeah, just think back on any look by Rihanna whether on a red carpet or on the streets of any another country and it is clear that she just gets “It.” Rihanna oozes a fashion and style appeal that makes even a pink dress that looks like a cupcake seem like the perfect prom dress.However, even though she is one of the few that can get away with wearing a paper sack… socks? Harris revealed,

“I know a lot of people are probably saying ‘Why socks? And that’s really the beauty of it, and that’s why Rihanna’s perfect, because she’s constantly innovating and looking to see what’s next. Socks are not really a trend; they’re a fashion staple.”

After that statement, it does make you have an Aha moment doesn’t it? Think about it, when is the last time someone said, “Oh you are wearing socks? Girl that was so two seasons ago!” We are sure you would be hard pressed to think of a conversation that went like that. Nevertheless, that proves the point that socks are not swayed by time, trends or any other fashion movement. They never go out of style, everyone wears them and they are really an untapped market.

While numerous celebrities are sticking to fragrances, typical fashion lines and hair extensions Rihanna has once again emerged as a true out of the box fashion thinker. For the Murder Rih Wrote (yeah, that’s sock collection name and we love the pun) ad campaign Rihanna seems to mix retro with modern chic due the styling of her hair as well as makeup and the edgy display and vibe of the socks. So then, what is the inspiration behind Rihanna’s first design of socks for Stance? Stance mentioned on their Instagram that,

“Every bad girl knows $$ makes the world go round, @badgalriri‘s first ever collab sock pays tribute to those who know how to hustle as hard as she does.”

Therefore, all the boss ladies of the world unite because we are getting some recognition! Over the past decade Rihanna has proven that hard work and dedication does get you places; especially if you are willing to take a Stance for what you truly believe in.

Fashion Notes: For the past few years runway models have been spotted coming the catwalk with socks and heels. As during those shows, Rihanna’s ad shows that the look doesn’t just have to remain in elementary school. Socks and heels can look just as sexy with the right attitude and vibes. Would you wear it?

Kendrick Lamar Wants to End Gang Rivalry Through Fashion

Some of us were either too little or not even alive to remember all the horrors and violence that surrounded two rival gangs… the Bloods and the Crips. However, for those that witnessed the blood spilled out between the two it is a war that you probably will never forget. Things have been much calmer than in times past, but the problem is that both gangs still exist. Where there is a flame there can come to be a fire so it is best to snuff out any remnants. Therefore, can true peace finally be achieved between these two long-time enemies?

Hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar would like to think so and has even taken action to bring on the unity, something Queen Latifah rapped about back in the day. Lamar is using fashion to make a statement. Kendrick Lamar has teamed up with the good people at Reebok to create the Ventilator “Blue & Red” Sneaker that will debut on July 18th. The sneakers have a very simple and neutral design with the exception of having the two signature colors of the Bloods (red) and Crips (blue). Could it be so easy that a little fashion could end a hateful rivalry between two L.A. gangs? Only time will tell, but its nice to see someone aiming for a better tomorrow.

The fashions seen at this year’s Comic Con ranged from over the top to simple and conservative. We took note of a few stylish celebrities rocking the monochromatic look as they worked the red carpet. It can be fun to wear two different tones in the very same outfit. Black and white will forever be a classic tone combination in the realm of couture and two actresses wore it fabulously!

Angela Bassett: She is one of our all-time favorite on screen sirens and she is not aging! Angela wore black pants as well as a black and white print top.

Kat Graham: This sexy lady kept it fresh with a revealing little number consisting of a black crop top and double slit white skirt. If you love the skin that you are in then this is the look for you!

Angela Bassett and Kat Graham were both attending EW’s big Comic Con party. While there they promoted their latest projects Vampire Diaries (Graham) and “American Horror Story: Hotel” (Bassett).

Serena Williams Wows at Championship Dinner

Cinderella didn’t even look this good on her best night! Serena Williams attended a ball of her very own right after her historic win this past weekend at Wimbledon. The championship dinner affair was held in London, England at the Guild Hall.

The championship dinner is exactly how it sounds, both champs come dressed to impressed as they are crowned in glory. Serena made her entrance in a gorgeous peach toned gown that made her look like she had come right off the pages of a fairy tale. Serena took to social media to thank her fans for their unwavering support and to explain what the moment really meant to her. She wrote on Instagram,

“This does not happen everyday or every year. I am so happy to hold this memorable trophy for the 6th time. #SerenaSlam 2.0 #renasarmy thanks for the love and support.”

One of our favorite moments of the night was when both winners decided to cut a little rug for the cameras. Both Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic busted out some signature moves punctuating the evening with a major high note.

Fashionable Mention: Keke Palmer Wearing Georges Chakra Fall 2015

There are not enough adjectives in the English language to describe the fierceness of this look! Comic Con was not ready for the heat that was Keke Palmer as she burned up the red carpet. Palmer was attending Entertainment Weekly’s Comic Con soirée when she made all heads go SWOOSH!

Palmer stepped out wearing a purple cut-out jumpsuit from the Georges Chakra Fall 2015 collection. If you look up the meaning behind the shade of purple you will find that it conveys,

“Wealth, extravagance, creativity, wisdom, dignity, grandeur… [and] is often associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power and ambition.”

By that definition we have to agree that KeKe oozed of luxury and sass. With such royal appeal there is no wonder as to why she is a Scream Queen.

Beauty Notes: Women always seem to wonder is it okay to match one’s makeup to their ensemble? The answer is a resounding yes! Fashion Spotlight: Keke Palmer at FOX Fanfare party at Comic Con

All hail the queen! Or at least one of them…the ladies of the new television show Scream Queens were in attendance for FOX networks dazzling party held during this year’s Comic Con. The weekend has been filled with appearances from the fashionable starlets and today (July 12) the girls were all set to hold a panel discussing the ins and outs of the upcoming show.

Keke Palmer will share the spotlight on the show with co-stars Lea Michele, Jamie Lee Curtis, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd and Skyler Samuels. For the event, Keke looked drop dead gorgeous in head-to-toe white. It can be challenging to pull off white WITH white shoes, but as Palmer demonstrates that design is everything in order to make sure an outfit doesn’t become a one note bore.
