Well it looks like Dr. Dre was doing more than ‘being in a lab with a pen and a pad trying to get his label off.’ Dre has had a very successful as well as lucrative career in music since his days in NWA, as a solo artist and introducing the world to such talented musical acts as Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Nate Dogg and Eminem. Dre eventually also found himself on the big screen starring in movies such as Training Day, The Wash and Set It Off.

Then came numerous endorsements deals with Dr. Pepper, Chrysler and Coors Light. Entrepreneurship has always been force behind Dre’s success and was ever apparent when he entered the tech world with his brand of headphones, Beats by Dre. Beats by Dre was an instant selling tons and tons of units in no time flat.

Forbes had already listed the hip hop mogul of having a net worth over 500 million dollars. However, now with Apple’s interest in the Beats by Dre brand Dr. Dre shall officially become the first ever billionaire hip hop star. Apple is set to purchase the brand for a whopping 3.8 billion dollars to add as accessories to their popular IPhone, IPad and IPod devices.
