Contouring For Your Bust

Contouring For Your Bust

Thanks to the help of socialites, Youtube and makeup artists contouring has literally changed the face (pun intended) of makeup. Now women everywhere can have perfectly sculpted cheekbones illuminating light gracefully. Nevertheless, some ladies may not realize that this contouring technique isn’t new at all but has been used for years by men who enjoyed dressing in drag. If you don’t believe a quick search in the google and youtube archives shall be enough to seal the point.

However, what more can we learn from drag queens when it comes to makeup? Quite a lot actually, because these drag ladies are quite skilled with cosmetics in order to transform themselves to give off a more feminine look which is where contouring comes into play. Some are so good you would never even know it wasn’t your best girlfriend standing next to you.

Contouring as taken a lot of heat because some MUAs feel that women do not need to use such a technique because they already possess a soft, feminine look. However, the lure of perfection and a beat face makes natural seem like so old-fashioned. Makeup should always just be fun and a way to enhance your best features. If contouring helps you to achieve that then go for it!

That is a enough of cosmetics history class, the good news is that drag queens don’t just contour their face but use it to enhance another area as well… the bust. Alright, fellow flat-chested ladies and those in need of a lift contouring your bust will make them look bigger and shapelier! Think about it, perfect looking breasts and a beat face! Best of all, it all can be achieved without the aid of surgery.

How to Prevent Clumps and Mascara Smearing

How to Prevent Clumps and Mascara Smearing

Clumps and smearing can usually be completely avoided if prep before application is done correctly. What sort of preparation is needed when applying mascara? You will want to take into consideration the wand as well as what could possibly occur later on during the day.

Many women like to touch up their makeup throughout the day to ensure that they look their best. However, touching up mascara and applying more formula can causes lashes to look flaky as well as clumpy. Avoid this by prepping your wand properly before your very first application. Add some hydration to wand by spritzing it with a light mist of a water spray. Misting your wand before dipping it in the mascara tube and applying will help to stave off the need for a mid-day touch-up.

The second issue that many women face throughout the day is smearing which is usually caused by the production of oils. Soak up these oils by applying a powder eyeshadow along your top lid. A little translucent powder may be dusted under the eyes to prevent any smudges with the lower lash line. Moreover, invest in a travel case size of cotton swabs aka Q-tips. These can be used to gently clean up or remove any mascara smearing due to oils if necessary.

Beauty Question: What on Earth is an Emulsifier?

Beauty Question What on Earth is an Emulsifier

Beauty Answer: Emulsifiers are soap-based substances that are added to numerous beauty products to ensure any water-based or oils remain binded together. Naturally, oil and water do not mix with one another. For instance, if you have ever boiled pasta you must likely added oil to the water to prevent the pasta from sticking together. Nevertheless, if you took a closer look into the pot most likely you noticed that the oil and water did not combine or mix. The oil stayed completely intact in little oil droplets.

So then, this means that emulsifiers help achieve something that is not a natural process. Since emulsifiers are added it allows users the convenience of not having to constantly shake a product in order to get the product ingredients to bind back together. Although they obviously help to save time, does this mean they are completely harmless?

Not quite, our beauty lovelies, here is something you might not know about emulsifiers. These substances can be found in products that we use everyday such as lotions, creams and body washes. Once these products are applied to the skin and any oil or water is absorbed or evaporated the emulsifiers are left behind leaving residue. This very residue can cause damage to your skin’s protective layer and produce dryness. When we are young our skin tends to produce more oils but as we get older or skin is dryer which causes our skin to age faster. Therefore, avoiding dryness is like protecting our fountain of youth.

Fall 2015 Makeup: Very Red Lips

Fall 2015 Makeup Very Red Lips

One trend that has seemed to be hot all year long has been red lip color. The sassy and bold tint has been seen everywhere from the red carpet to the runway. Therefore, if you are looking to be “in” for fall you may just need to shop your own makeup bag.

Red lip color was spotted on models at Bottega Veneta, Celine, Saint Laurent as well as Carolina Herrera to name a few. Deep red hues are gorgeous on brown skin, but if you would like to brighten things up then go for it! Red comes in several lovely shades so regardless how light or dark you want to go you will be able to find the perfect shade to fit your mood.

Moreover, the red lip color made for the Vanessa Seward show was also a stand out hue. While more shades of lip colors tend to come with moisturizers to add more shine sometimes a more matte shade can be just as dramatic. The matte lip color for Seward’s collection was gorgeous without needing any glistening effect. So then, if you prefer a more subdued red lip color look opt for a matte shade.

Lakur Nail Polish Fighting Breast Cancer

Lakur Nail Polish Fighting Breast Cancer2

We love Lakur’s collection of nail polishes for a number of reasons. First of all, they are eco-friendly so that means it is a natural product that will not be harmful due to it not including unnecessary chemicals. Now we know that a lot of ladies tend to shy away from natural nail shades because some have proven to have a weaker performance. Nevertheless, things have changed and formulas have improved making eco-friendly polishes just as great as their more toxic predecessors.

Moreover, Lakur’s nail polishes are infused with natural oils that will also aid in strengthening your nails. So then, you get great color as well as a stronger set of nails. Plus, if you purchase now you will be helping out a great cause. Right now fifty percent of sales will be going toward the Unite for Her organization that organizes programs for breast cancer patients.

Milk Does Your Body Good

Milk Does Your Body Good

It is a popular tag-line that has had children and adults gladly giving themselves liquid mustaches for decades. Nevertheless, as fun and cute as a selfie could look from said mustache the question remains… is milk really beneficial? Inquiring minds have wanted to know for some time and decided to seek some definitive answers.

The fountain of youth may not have been discovered as of yet; however, one simple drink may hold more beauty as well as health benefits than this undiscovered gem. Milk is a natural beverage that contains nutrients and vitamins that can benefit the skin right down to your smile. Here are just as few of the many ways that milk can do your body good!

Woman drinking milk

  • Due to the proteins it contains milk has the ability to rebuild muscles.
  • If you are aiming to drop a few pounds make sure you drink a glass a snack or with a meal. Research has shown that women who do so on average lose more weight than those that do not. Literal food for thought…
  • Milk is made up of amino acids that are able to keep skin well-hydrated and moisturized.
  • Also, on the beauty tip, milk contains enzymes as well as lactic acid that behaves like an exfoliant which will encourage skin to be touch-ably smooth.
  • Lastly, make your dentist a happy camper by consuming milk regularly. Milk not only makes teeth stronger but will ward off cavities and tooth decay.

Beauty Question: Is Mineral Makeup Safe?

Beauty Question Is Mineral Makeup Safe

Beauty Answer: This is a very wise question to ask because it involves making sure that our biggest organ on our body remains well-protected… our skin. More and more organic and “healthy” beauty products are on the rise because of recent discoveries of harmful ingredients in major products. Nevertheless, never assume that just because a product totes itself as being safe that it really is; always do your research before purchasing.

With that said not all mineral makeup products are good for you. There are some that contain a powdered form of titanium dioxide which can be quite dangerous to the body if inhaled. Now when titanium dioxide is in a cream based formed it is much safer because the solid form helps to prevent it from being inhaled. However, when titanium dioxide is inhaled as a powder the effects can be compared to those exposed to asbestos. Yikes!

Portrait of a beautiful young African woman against a yellow background.

Many exposed to asbestos for a short period of time are normally okay. Nevertheless, frequent exposure and after some time usually decades later the harmful effects become apparent and some even develop lung cancer. Now let’s that apply that to the using of mineral products with unsafe ingredients. A little exposure may not harm you, but most women apply makeup daily and reapply throughout the day. That is a lot of exposure which could do a lot of damage down the road. So then, always read the ingredients list carefully so that no matter what type of makeup you are purchasing you are protecting yourself and your health.
