Delta Airlines Unveils Zac Posen Designed Employee Uniforms2

Justin Timberlake may of brought Sexy Back but Delta Airlines is bringing old school glamour back to the skies! If you have ever Google searched retro photos of airline attendants we’re sure you will agree that times have definitely changed. Back in the day every single lady of the air resembled an old Hollywood star. Now the employee uniform is chic and well put together but missing that old spark. As a result, Delta wants to fan that old flame of gorgeous vintage couture. See it for yourself as Delta Airlines Unveils Zac Posen Designed Employee Uniforms!

Any Project Runway fans in the house? World renown designer and judge on Project Runway, Zac Posen, was tapped to redesign the Delta uniforms. Zac made major headlines with his ultimate Cinderella dress for Claire Danes at this year’s Met Gala. So if anyone was going to make sure that the Belle returned to the airline ball it would definitely be Mr. Posen!

Back in October first looks of the collection made their way onto SM. However, now these pieces are ready for the real world. Meghan Honey, an insanely beautiful employee of Delta recently got to test out the new re-envisioned look. Furthermore, she shared her thoughts on the Posen designed uniform stating,

“Ladies and gentlemen I present you The New Delta! I am honored to be one of the few employees who are wear testing our new “Passport Plum” pieces for the next couple of months! Thanks to our Uniform Committee, Delta and Zac Posen for designing such a timeless, classic, comfortable signature dress! We are definitely bringing glam back to flying!”

The dress, the bag and the gloves. Really what’s not to like? Posen killed it with this redesign. Also, the color choice is simply perfection as well. Plums are so royal and luxe. Furthermore, the length is appropriate and the collar is voguish without looking overworked. Every design element fits in seamlessly with the rest.

Nonetheless, now that Delta Airlines Unveils Zac Posen Designed Employee Uniforms to the world does this mean other airlines will follow suit? Plane interior decor and amenities seem to being getting a reboot so why not fashion? Delta may just be setting a precedent and we are totally here for it!

Michael Costello SS15 Runway Show

Michael Costello SS15 Runway Show

Michael Costello’s runway show for El Paseo Fashion Week was brimming with so many show-stopping pieces we don’t even know where to begin! We gushed over his all noire designs that consisted of long gowns, jumpsuits and short flirtatious dresses with cut-outs. Backstage Michael shared with us that the collection was inspired by samurai warriors and each ensemble we saw fit the bill because they were fierce, sassy and extremely sexy. You can always tell when even the models are enjoying the fashions, their walk becomes harder, stronger and they simply stomp to the death. Every last model served it like their rent, electric and Iphone bills were due!

Costello’s femme fatale show gave us style shivers also thanks to lovely embellishments that included: fur, low V-cuts, sparkle, pockets, high splits, sheer fabrics and bold silver shades. Michael’s breathtaking show also included menswear, but for more on that be sure to lookout for our exclusive interview with Michael in our April issue!

Michelle Lesniak Shows During Stars of Project Runway

Michelle Lesniak Shows During Stars of Project Runway

We just can’t get enough of this talented chick! We got to catch up with the ingenious designer after the Stars of Project Runway Fashion Show who with her infectious personality and demeanor filled us in on the deets regarding her amazing collection. Michelle said her designs were inspired by hot air balloons which was a sort of symbolism of her life and falling back. We loved the details of ropes and tassels that brought Michelle’s vision to life.

Moreover, the swim-wear had us at hello and love at first sight due to the high-waisted bottoms that are simply perfection when hiding problem areas. The retro yet modern vibe of the swimsuits had us dreaming of a Dorthy Dandridge/Marilyn Monroe summer with a contempo twist. From start to finish Michelle Lesniak’s show had us crying tears of fashion joy.

Stars of Project Runway Fashion Show!

Stars of Project Runway Fashion Show

Last night no designers were told “Auf Wiedersehen” which when translated means “goodbye” in German. The popular Heidi Klum send off to contestants eliminated from the fashion design competition show was replaced by oohs, ahs and much applause from the packed out house of stylish onlookers. The show included Project Runway alums: Dom Streater, Daniel Esquivel, Michelle Lesniak and Patricia Michaels. Although the show began with a video from Michael Costello stating that he would not be in attendance, Costello surprised one and all by showing his collection and walking the runway with the other designers in a celebratory finale extravaganza.

What were some of our favorite moments? See our loves on our Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram or tweet us @1966magazine.

Hair

Fake a Bang, Reverse Ponytail

Project Runway - Runway - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014

We love hair that is creative and fresh! In lieu of Project Runway’s new season debut (yup we can’t wait either!) we decided to flashback to the spring/summer 2014 fashion show. If you have ever wanted to try a bang without all the commitment then this hairstyle is perfection.

The reverse ponytail sent hair greatness chills up our collective spines. To this day we still adore this modern fresh take on a classic hairstyle. A ponytail that doubles as a bang? Argh, we just died and went to hair heaven!

1966 Magazine Attends El Paseo Fashion Week Project Runway

El Paseo Fashion Week 2014

It has definitely been a whirlwind of a week, but it has all been worth it in the name of glorious couture.

We had the pleasure of seeing our favorite Project Runway designers showcase their latest designs. Typically, if you think of West Coast fashion – L.A. Fashion Week may instantly come to mind; however, not so fast ladies.

El Paseo Fashion Week is quickly proving to be one of the hottest tickets in town elevating fashion week show production and design. For the first night, we wore a LBD cutout dress (Arianne) and purple floral gown (Alicia).

Be sure to browse our additional posts to read our thoughts of the collections we observed during El Paseo Fashion Week.
