Sounds action packed! Nevertheless, how is Winnie feeling about her latest cover? Well, the model shares how emphasis was put on natural hair and styling. Harlow reveals,

“I got to shoot this cover with a group of my SUPER TALENTED friends! So much fun and so much talent on set. Thank you Petr Matejcek and ELLE Czech for letting us experiment on this shoot.

Not often do I allow my natural hair to be used for work because I’m about protecting my kinks and curls from damage; (if you knew the struggle). It was amazing to have one of my main hair dressers who specializes in black hair booked to achieve this intricate updo with my natural hair which is such a different look for me!”

Michelle Obama ELLE December 2018 -The Oprah Interview

Michelle Obama ELLE December 2018

ELLE USA saved the best for last! The journal is wrapping up the year with an exclusive interview with one of the most iconic First Ladys to ever grace The White House. The Michelle Obama ELLE December 2018 edition features Michelle discussing everything; from her marriage, being vulnerable and the importance of optimism.

In order to tell Obama’s story to the masses, ELLE recruited the queen of talk, Oprah Winfrey; to handle interview duties. This issue comes right before Michelle’s new book release, Becoming. Winfrey has already placed Obama’s book in her coveted book club. If you would like to learn more you can check it out at amazon.com/oprahsbookclub.

Michelle Obama ELLE December 2018

Speaking of Becoming Oprah says, “From the very first pages of ‘Becoming’ I knew I wanted EVERYONE to read it. I loved it so much I’ve already read it twice. I’ve known Michelle for 14 years, but this book is so open and vulnerable; I felt like she was in my ear. Book clubs everywhere — you’ll want to make this your next selection.”

So what are Oprah and Obama chatting about within the pages of ELLE? The magazine reveals,

“Living in the White House for eight years; Michelle Obama had staffers providing everything she could have possibly needed, except for time. ‘What I came to realize is that there was absolutely no time to reflect in the White House,’ she tells Oprah for ELLE’s cover interview. ‘We moved at such a breakneck pace from the moment we walked in those doors until the moment we left. It was day in and day out because we, Barack and I; really felt like we had an obligation to get a lot done.’

Now, with time to process two terms in office — a historic run of accomplishments and struggles — Obama has released her highly anticipated memoir, ‘Becoming.’ Ahead of her book release, the former FLOTUS gets real about her marriage to Barack; the threats made against her children; and life after the White House.”

They’re beautiful, hard-working and also simply want the best treatment for all. ELLE magazine shares why they are honoring this cool set of Hollywood elite by saying,

To start, Lady Gaga, the ever-outspoken singer-turned-actress currently selling out theatres in A Star Is Born. [Also] Yara Shahidi, who at 18 is a leading voice for social justice; and the powerful writer/producer Shonda Rhimes; who recently signed a multimillion-dollar megadeal with Netflix.

[There has been] gradual progress made in the… movement to get more female story-tellers behind and in-front of the camera. This theme emerges again and again in our November issue, from our Black Panther cast spotlight featuring Lupita Nyong’o– who went from penning a powerful New York Times op-ed about a disturbing encounter with Harvey Winston; to storming the box office alongside fellow Wakanda women of Black Panther Angela Bassett, and Danai Gurira.”

Oftentimes, many only think of “adult” opinions on the situation that Hollywood is currently in. However, ELLE mag also shares what Blackish’s Yara Shahidi is experiencing. They reveal,

“For Yara Shahidi, this is what it means to be a woman in Hollywood in 2018:

‘There’s an intentional knowledge disparity in any industry. Which is tied to the maintaining of power. [Moreover] I love the fact that this community of women is disintegrating that.

I’ve been able to reap the benefits of it; and I’m also fortunate to have my parents with me, guiding me. This is a hobby, so I haven’t had to do this as something that my family and I depend on. Which has helped alleviate pressures that many actors feel.”

For the March edition of ELLE Solange talks about a little bit of everything. She dives into music, love, her ambitions, art and her huge 2016 album. Regarding creating her wildly successful music she stated,

“Writing felt like this insular thing that I could go back in my room and express all that I would observe. [Also] all the emotions that would arise. It felt like mine, my little thing.”

Salamishah Tillet who is a scholar, professor at the University of Pennsylvania and activist shared thoughts on Solange. Inside the March issue Tillet gives her views regarding A Seat at the Table. She says,

“A Seat at the Table boldly channels the contradictions of our moment. The stew of pride, disappointment, vulnerability, and anger that African Americans are experiencing. In an era marked as much by the election of our first black president as the murder of young black people.

[Nevertheless] the record is sweeping in its reckoning with the nation’s vexed racial past and present. Furthermore its intimate and unexpectedly gentle.”
