Gabrielle Union Rocks Denim On Denim

Actress Gabrielle Union is one of the many celebrity sightings this week in NYC. Gabrielle was spotted leaving Milk Studios after taking part in a photo shoot. Union blessed The Big Apple with her fashion presence by rocking a trend that at times can be quite challenging to pull off. That trend is the denim on denim.

Women have worn long denim gowns or the denim suit with some successes or needing to be put on the worst dress list. However, Gabrielle is a sterling example on how to wear this trend correctly. Union matched the correct denim tint when it came to her skirt and top so that the rinses were not so far apart in shade. Also, by revealing a few touches of skin it helped to break up the monotony of the look. Her neutral accessories kept the outfit relaxed keeping the attention on the coolness of the jeans.

Beauty Snapshot: Lancome Celebrates 80 Years of Beauty

It was definitely a night of beauty as celebrities came to celebrate Lancome’s 80th anniversary. Over 1200 attended the lovely affair including Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o who dazzled in shimmery gown. Lupita wasn’t the only starlet in attendance as several glamorous ladies who have had a part in representing the brand came out to show their support.

Apart of the list of brand ambassadors included in the evenings festivities were: Julia Roberts, Penélope Cruz, Kate Winslet, Lupita Nyong’o, Lily Collins, Alma Jodorowsky and Daria Werbowy. Let’s not forget that Lancome is a front runner in the world of beauty so each beauty-lista showed off her own gorgeous makeup look to compliment the night’s French fashion theme. Lupita Nyong’o rocked a bold red lip (Lancôme’s Lips-Liner in Sheer Chocolat), thanks tof make-up artist Nick Barose.

Brandy was channeling Curly Sue as she enjoyed herself last night in New York City. Her voluminous curls looked absolutely divine and fit her ensemble style perfectly. Brandy was boho chic in ripped denim, flouncy printed dress, scarf and black ballet flats.

Now back to the gorgeous hair look that Brandy was sporting. All week we have been discussing how to achieve curly/wavy hair without any added fear of damage. Black women are really making strides to stay away from harmful chemicals and enjoy their natural texture or define their curl pattern. Here is a really cool method to help define curls that involves twisting flexi-rods. You are going to want to check out this video!

Yesterday, there were several sightings of songstress, Rihanna in New York City. For her first look RiRi rocked black tights, sneakers, Thrasher tee, snapback and Fenty necklace. RiRi had been doing a little body maintenance at Titan gym and was quietly exiting the building. See, isn’t comforting that celebrities have to put in the work for their hot bods too?

Rihanna kept her relaxed chic vibe going as night fell upon The Big Apple. Her nighttime ensemble consisted of green sweats, gray shirt, gold hoops, tennis shoes and another snapback.

So why was Rihanna on the streets of NYC this week? It looks like the singer is conducting a little business while she is there. Rihanna was meeting with world renown producer Timbaland at a studio.

Beauty Notes: Knowing how to compliment or marry your nail color with your makeup can be very easy. A simple way to not create a color clash is by matching your lip color to your nail color. For her look, Rihanna chose a gorgeous red and the tint pops!

When we first heard about this we were too excited for words and just had to share! In aviation you will be hard-pressed to find an all female crew on any commercial jetliner. Moreover, it would feel like trying to locate a needle in a haystack if searching for an all black female crew. Nevertheless, would you believe us if we told you such a crew actually DOES exist?

Well, start believing girls! Captain Rachelle Jones and first officer Stephanie Grant fly for Delta’s regional carrier Southeast Atlantic. If that wasn’t cool enough all of the flight attendants working on their jet are also African American women. This just goes to show that there is a first time for everything and when chasing your dreams the sky is not the limit.

Get Summer Wavy Hair With Flexi Rods

Wavy hair is one of the many hair trends of the season but knowing how to achieve such a style at times can feel like one big mystery! There is no wrong way to achieve wavy hair and women from all over world have tried various methods. Maybe you have found yourself using a few like: braiding, rags, foil or even scrunching.

However, getting the hang of using flexi rods may just be the answer to your hair prayers. Such a method if taken well care of can last all the way to your next hair wash. That means looking great from shampoo to shampoo! So then, how does the flexi rod method work exactly?

Here are two great tutorials that will show you exactly what to do. Enjoy and happy waves to ya ladies!

Hair Notes: In the video you most likely noticed that sheets were used before the hair was rolled up. Is that step really that important? It is kind of old school but using them can help prevent your waves/curls from frizzing. So just a word to the wise…

For the past two days the beauty world has been buzzing about the green eyeshadow seen on models during the Versace runway show. Green is not usually a tint that most women naturally reach for when creating their makeup look. Nevertheless, green is a great hue for girls wanting to explore color and move on from more neutral tints. Here are few tips to keep in mind to make this runway trend your very own:

1. When applying green eyeshadow for brown eyes it is best to use a green shadow that has blue undertones. The blue will accentuate the orange undertones present in brown eyes making them pop.

2. If you want a more subtle look apply green eyeliner to your upper and lower lash lines.

3. Black mascara will match green eye shadow well so do not worry about the colors clashing if you would like to punch up your lashes.

4. A nude lip color and bronzing the skin will compliment green eyeshadow very well.

5. Lighter skin tones can wear even very celery green shadows while it is recommended that darker skin tones go for emerald, evergreen and vivid greens to create the most stunning look.
